Passion is the first thing - Bill Joy のインタビューより [memo]

Bill Joy,

Sun Microsystems

BSD, vi, csh, curses, termcap, Pascal, NFS, SPARC, Solaris, Java, JINI…

Are there three questions you can ask an entrepreneur that measures their greatness?"

Passion is the first thing.

Big ideas, passion, an ability to make it real" だとか.

Hope Is a Lousy Defense.

Re-implementing what I designed in 1979 is not interesting to me personally. For kids who are 20 years younger than me, Linux is a great way to cut your teeth. It's a cultural phenomenon and a business phenomenon. Mac OS X is a rock-solid system that's beautifully designed. I much prefer it to Linux.

Windows

I find Windows of absolutely no technical interest. They took systems designed for isolated desktop systems and put them on the Net without thinking about evildoers

Why the future doesn't need us.
